The Farmers Last Will and Testament
Thought that I would share this from the back of a funeral handout. I am sure most can relate. (from my friend Deb)
THE FARMERS LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
I leave to my friends and neighbors... ......
the mangy coyote who ate all my hens
the ornery cows who'd escape their pens
the sly old fox who ate the largest goose
the gears and belts that were always loose
the weeds that'd thrive instead of wheat
those millions of steps for those tired feet
the rocks that will grow on all the land
the endless wind that'll blow the sand
my boney old horse that wouldn't trot
the cranky old binder that wouldn't knot
that slick old skunk with an all over spray
those endless bills just waiting for pay
some combine tires that were always flat
a bunty calf that wouldn't get fat
and also the sunshine and fresh country air
and the friendly neighborliness that is so rare.
But I take with me the memory of....
the song of the robin in the spring
the promise of life that crocus bring
the sight of a calf with wobbly knees
the promise of rain on a summer breeze
the shimmer of dew at the break of day
the pungent smell of new mown hay
the smell of earth after a gentle rain
the golden glow of a field of grain
the nip of frost in the early fall
the honk of a goose with a migrating call
and the western sky in a setting sun
these are the memories of a job well done
And my own, the sound of a new born lamb bleeting for Mom...

No trees were killed in the sending of this message; however... a great number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
Stay tuned here for family updates and what we are up to : )
Kathleen (Mom) and Lorna will be heading to New Zealand and Australia in May & June of 2010. You can check out the train trip we are taking in Australia at
We will be in New Zealand first and for my 50th birthday go to the Agridome Sheep Show, complete with sheep dog demonstration in Rotorua! What a way to celebrate! Maybe Mom will enjoy the day enough to forgive me for being born the day before Mother's Day instead of waiting those few hours! We start with a 14 day bus tour through-out New Zealand then follow that with the trian trip in Australia. We hope to be able to visit most of our friends down-under while we are there as well as make a few new ones!

Face Value: Sheep & Smiles
It seems sheep are discerning eaters?at least when it comes to who serves them. In a 2004 study, researchers at CambridgeUniversity in England gave sheep the choice of two doors to push open to get food. One door depicted a smiling human, the other an angry one. By a vast majority, the sheep chose the door with the smiling face.
